Dear Family and Friends!
It has been such a wonderful week! The Lord is truly blessing us and is acknowledging our hard work and efforts. One investigator will be getting baptized on Sunday. He is soooooo excited! I am so excited. It's been a while since I have had a baptism (but I don't really feel a void because I know I have been working hard and having success still). Anywhoo. He told us this last week about how he is excited to work for the church's international affairs to build the church up in his homeland. He said ... "I will get us a temple!". hahah! YEA he will. He is one determined guy so I wouldn't put it past him.
We got the most amazing new investigator this week! He is a student at Julliard and is pretty much as golden as they get. In the scriptures it talks about the elect as those who are willing to listen and He is the most perfect example. I wont be able to do it justice typing it but I will try to explain. His heart is so open and he is really just looking for what God wants for him. He talked about how good he feels at church and when he reads the book of Mormon and how he feels a pull towards it and how he doesn't intend on stopping anytime soon. He is planning on baptism ... on drum roll please! MARCH 14th!! yay right before I leave! TENDER MERCY TENDER TENDER MERCY (that had music to it but you cant hear me... ). We also got to see another investigator yesterday. O man I love this family soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. I cannot even explain how deep they are into my heart. I just want so badly for her to have enough confidence and faith in herself and in God to just step up and do it! *SIGH* Anyways. I love being a missionary and having the spirit strong enough to give us the strength to ask people to do hard things. Hard things that will change their life a lot... but it is always a good change.
I got a letter from Kenton... can I just tell you how amazing our family is. Just by the way he writes I know he is a rock star missionary! POWERFUL! Go KENNEDY/WADSWORTHS!
Here are some fun things we did this week
-Ate at Tom's Restaurant (the one that is from Seinfeld)
- I sang twice on Sunday. Once in the family ward and once for the ambassador of Costa Rica! Both were awesome experiences!
- Had a member tell me she will give me a referral to do an internship at her old job that will give me a job in Hawaii and pay for EVERYTHING!!! FLIGHT FOOD TRANSPORTATION ... AND STILL PAY ME! :D
- Ate at patsy's pizza soooooooooo good (we are so goin there together)
- taught at Julliard and Columbia (that happens every week but sometimes I have to pinch myself about how cool that is!)
- Got a new investigator from Ghana and El Salvador! woot
- Contacted for an hour and a half at Washington square!
I am starting to freak out a little knowing that I only have a couple of weeks left here in the city... It seriously frightens me. I love this place so much I don't know what I will do without all the hustle and bustle. Even if I go to the Bronx it will be drastically different. I am trying to use my last few pdays wisely and all that really means is that I end up getting stressed out trying to decide what to do. But I have come to a conclusion that all the touristy things will still be here when I come back to visit and so I am just planning things with my investigators. You only get to be a missionary in NYC once! So today I am going to see our investigator dance at Julliard.! It's goin to be great! I was also going to ask if there is any NY souvenirs that you guys wanted me to get before I left the city. Just let me know ASAP!
Anyways I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee being a missionary! I had an interview with President and just told him how much I love this work. He said that's because I am obedient. haha. I really do love being able to learn a little bit more everyday about my Savior as I serve Him!
I love you all to the moon and back.... I need janson pictures!
LOVE WADSWORTH
The life of me... Kaitlyn, doing my best! It might not be anything extraordinary but hey... im just Kaitlyn! :D

Anywhoooo we have had a wonderful week. As usual. Last Thursday after I emailed you we had a great day. We got to see an investigator and resolve all his concerns. He ran into a anti Mormon website. So that day I was a little nervous but felt at peace after I prayed and studied about what to share with him. But it actually was really amazing. We read some scriptures and told him a little about church history and he was like ... "ok! I wasn't really worried I just wanted to know what to say to people when they ask me!". I thought that that was sooo cool. His faith was strong enough to not get shaken by the confusion that Satan has made out of some sacred truths. My testimony also grew about the convincing power of the Holy Ghost. It only will communicate truth through feelings of peace and joy and clarity. God doesn't make us feel scared or confused or angry. That is all from Satan.
Then later that night we met with another investigator. She wants to get baptized! She is praying about when though. She is so lovely. The ward already loves her so much. After her lesson we went with her to a members house who was teaching a jewelry making class and the earrings were sooooo cute. I was in awe. She makes and sells them and I asked her how much this pair of earrings I really liked were and she gave them to me for free!!! and told me comp to pick a pair too! It was soooo nice. Little tender mercies that just make me so happy! She also told us that she would love to show us how to actually make them on a pday sometime so soon I will be making and selling them myself. haha. Don't worry they will be free to sister missionaries though.
We really have the greatest members here. I love them sooo much it will be hard to leave them. I get to sing in the family ward on Sunday. They just asked me to. I don't know why i started talking about them but I really do love them... o yea now i remember. Last night we were at one of my most favorite members for dinner shes the one who went to culinary school and fed us on thanksgiving. ANYWHOO... she told us about this website/podcast thing called moth.org and I think you would really like it. People get together and tell stories from their lives and then they record the best ones and put it on the podcast.... just thought I would pass on the info :D
Its been snowing a lot still... yesterday I felt like I walked around in water all day because my boots are not working. Today we are going shopping and so hopefully I will find some good boots.
Well family I just love you all so much. I am grateful for your support and love. You rock my little sister missionary tights! haha.
o also ... a lot of people have been talking about how soon I am coming home in my letters! I STILL HAVE A LONG TIME!! or at least I want to work like I do. I just don't want to be distracted or trunky in any way! I love love love being a missionary and I am trying to not miss one minute of it. ITS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD to serve God!
OK LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK

Hello family!
Sorry this is a day late as you have probably seen we were stuck inside all day yesterday. But what a tender mercy that Heavenly Father chose to have it on our pday. So it was really quite nice. We were forced to stay inside. We did go out like any other pday at 6pm and boy was that fun! I cant believe how much it can snow. It seriously didn't stop the whole day. I just kept thinking how much I love living somewhere it doesn't snow. I really am not a big fan of it. Only when I get to snow board which wont be happening anytime soon here. haha.
So we have had a wonderful week. I am seriously loving my new companion. She is a rock star. Its always hard to come to the city for the first time but she is doin really well. We have 3 people with baptismal dates. And there are more to come. On Sunday we had the most amazing appointment. On Sundays we don't have time to do our regular studies because we have to go to church right away and then are there for the next 8 hours (kill me! Dad if you ever feel like you are at the church forever ... just think about the fact that I am there too :D) So the point is we didn't get to really prepare for the lesson we were goin to have like I like to have. So when we got there we went into our member's dorm room and I asked if we could kneel and pray to start (we usually only kneel at the end ... donno why). Anyways and I said the prayer and just said pretty much... ok Heavenly Father take over ... we don't know what were doing here. haha. Then we talked to her about prayer and scripture study. It was so amazing. I really had no idea what I was going to say and then a thought would come to my mind (you could call it pure intelligence) and I would just talk and the spirit just taught through me. I don't even remember what exactly I said but we were all crying and the peace and pure joy in the room was sooooo strong. I am sooooooooo grateful that Heavenly Father trusts me enough to be an instrument in His hands. I cant even explain the joy it brings into my life to be able to testify of God's love for His children . It was so clear to me at that point how much God loved our investigator and how pleased He was with her efforts. We are all so loved by Him. He is so aware of what each of us need and He answers our prayers through those around us. I don't know what we said but we said just what she needed to hear. :D O happy day!
We also taught another investigator and he said he feels like baptism is important for him. Its so fun to teach him because we have to do it so simply that I have to get really creative in how I teach. I came up with a new way to teach the different dispensations and as I was putting it together I LEARNED SO MUCH. It became clearer to me and it all just made so much more sense. It is true what people always say about the teacher learning as much as the student. haha. It was cute I used an analogy and I referred to an ice cream man and he had this really puzzled look on his face and I said ... "did i say a word you don't know?" and he said "well ... who is ice cream man? I know bat man and spider man but ... who is ice cream man?" hahahaha. It was the cutest/funniest thing ever. He is the best though. Its harder now because we don't have sis tai to translate if we get stuck but its amazing how the spirit is our mother tongue and doesn't need a translator.
let me tell you some random things that happened to me this week:
I held a frozen dead bird (a large one actually)
I ran into a mirror... hard at a members house
I taught a room full of Chinese people how to make the noises of all the farm animals :D BEST DAY EVER!
I ate a bit of a fruit called Duran (?). It is supposed to be one of the nastiest things in the world. Some famous guy on the food network who goes around eating gross things couldn't even eat it
I got pelted by multiple snowballs while walking through Columbia's campus by some boys who yelled "GET THE GIRLS WITH THE UMBRELLAS!!!"
I assisted in killing one and tried to kill another mouse that has been living in our house :) nasty
I bought the most hideous sweater to wear at our ugly sweater parties :D
... this is just one week... imagine a list of my whole year and a half
Well I hope you all have a wonderful Valentines day. I decided that Gene (our 92 year old recent convert) is my valentine... Him and Jesus I guess. haha. I'm not a big fan of this holiday but its not so bad as a missionary. I LOVE YOU ALL! Thanks for your love and support! love you to the moon and back

Excitement!
SOME THINGS FOR THE BLOG:
Dave D. AND Dave Moncion! CONGRATS ON THE ENGAGEMENTS! I LOVE YOU BOTH AND NEED DETAILS!!!! ASAP!
MEGAN! AHHHHH MONGOLIA! I am sending a letter ASAP. CONGRATS YOU LITTLE WINNER YOU!
FAMILY!
Well I am glad you had a good little trip together. Happy Birthday Janson and Britt too! I just turned to my comp and said ... o man.. my nephew just had his first birthday... and I still haven't met him. blah. so weird!
So I have a new companion! She is so cute. Her name is sister Gee (like glee without the l). She is from Washington the state. This is her second cycle out here and so she is a rock star for her to be here. President already told her that she needs to learn the area really fast so she can take it over. haha. The girls we live with are now in a trio so we spent all of last night trying to switch rooms because their room only had two beds and ours had 4. sigh. needless to say I am tired. haha. I'm really sorry but this letter is going to be lame because my brain is so out of it I cant even think straight.
On Sunday one of our investigators stood up and bore his testimony and told everyone that he knows the church is true and will be getting baptized in 4 Sundays. It was so cute! I also had a humbling experience I wont go into too many details but pretty much an investigator called me out on something and although it wasn't anything huge it really hit me hard thinking about how our investigators expect us to be perfect and then i thought about how we really should not give them any reason to think any less. I don't know if that made any sense. Sis Tai and I talked about it and how they don't know how we have weaknesses too. Anyways. It was sad to see sis tai go home. She was such a sweetheart. It was so amazing to see her do her very best and succeed. It was a great two cycles. So they asked me on Sunday to sing again at the end of the month but this time its for the ambassador of Costa Rica. Pretty sweet!
We are also so happy about a baptism in a part member family. I love these people so much!

It has been a wonderful week! It has been amazing to see the new humble people Heavenly Father is putting in our paths. We found out that because of a situation, one of our investigators might be able to get baptized before she moves out of her apartment. ITS SO EXCITING! She told us last time we saw her how she wanted us to know how serious she was about this. She has read like half of the gospel principles book and loves to highlight her favorite verses in the Book of Mormon. I seriously love this woman. She is sooooo amazing and so humble! O I JUST LOVE HER! She has the cutest kids too!
So its been so interesting to hear about what's going on in Haiti. Before the mission I didn't really have any connection to Haiti but now I sure do. Guillame got the phone call finally on Saturday telling him of the miracles that his whole family was safe. Others have not been so lucky. I talked to a guy on the street yesterday who said he hasn't heard anything still except that one of his sons is dead. Our stake is putting together efforts of relief and has sent out a call to all our members to fulfill their baptismal commits to mourn with those that mourn and to comfort those who stand in need of comfort. These people are so kind and loving. I love Haitian people. I pray for the comfort of those who are in need. I wish I could do more but for now I will be talking to as many people as possible teaching of the comforting power that comes through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
So another investigator is doing amazing! He is so talented. Its so funny how we meet these cool people and then find out that they are doing amazing things. Like on Sunday we had dinner at a member's house who is a ballerina for the new york city ballet company or the American one... i don't remember anyways she's amazing... everyone here is. On Sunday we had a musical number in our singles ward by a girl who is one of the lead roles in jersey boys on Broadway here. SO COOL! ha ha. Anyways back to our investigator. He is so excited for his baptism and wants his friend's brother and father to come and participate. He is still learning a lot but loves it all. What a tender mercy it has been to teach people like him
Also we had a lesson with another person yesterday. She was a lady we contacted a while back with sis ganaha who finally was able to come to church on my birthday. Then she came again on Sunday and we met with her yesterday. We asked her if she had any questions about the reading we gave her and she said "no but i do want to tell you that when i was reading all of a sudden i just felt really warm inside and some of the verses made me all teary eyed, what was that feeling?" I was so excited! She doesn't even know if she believes in God yet but she has already felt God's love through the influence of the Holy Ghost while reading the Book of Mormon! O it is sooo true!!! What a powerful tool the Book of Mormon is! Those honest seekers who are sincere and who will really accept the answers God gives can know! Those who are humble and become like a child. She still is nervous about the commitment of baptism but she is developing her understanding of our Heavenly Father! ITS SO MAGNIFICENT!
So we had an interesting experience a couple of days ago where an old man collapsed on the street and sis tai and I found him struggling. He looked homeless but said he was just coming home from the doctor and needed to take the bus home and I felt really strongly that we needed to help him. So we carried him to the bus and took him to his door. He was in bad shape and so I just kept talking to him and trying to make him feel less embarrassed because I could tell he was. He said he was almost 90 years old. I told him how I coulda sworn he was 25. haha. He was so cute. We took him home and found out he was living alone and didn't really have anyone to take care of him. He had fallen and hurt himself and decided to walk to the emergency room alone! It was an interesting experience but I learned how Heavenly Father is very aware of each of us and our needs and how we are all children of God. Even if we look or are homeless. I promise mom and dad... i wont let you go places alone! haha or get to the point you look homeless! haha!
well I am getting told I have to hurry there are people waiting for the computer. I love you all so much! Thanks for your support! I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY! i LOVE being your daughter/sister/friend!
love you to the moon and back!

wadddup??
So we just got back from the temple! I just love the temple. I feel like I am still so new at it all because we only get to go 4 times a year. But that will change when I get back for sure!
Some fun things happened this week! Sunday was amazing!!! I miss having Sundays like this one. One of our investigators came to church. O she was so wonderful! During gospel principles class we were talking about service and the teacher asked about examples of service and she piped up and talked about "the sisters" she talked about how we saved her life and made her smile when she never thought she could again. It was def a highlight for me! I just love her so much. Our singles ward is finally starting to form again after the holiday vacations. One of our members who is an amazing ballroom dancer brought her dance partner to church and we got to teach him afterwards. HE IS SOO AMAZING! He is from Poland (add that to the list) and just loves everything we shared and that he has learned from his dance partner about the church. I am so grateful for members who are not afraid to share their testimonies! What joy it brings to those around them!
So last Friday I got the wonderful chance again to sing in front of a world leader. Man even if I am in Manhattan my entire mission at least I have been blessed with opportunities like this. So the UN ambassador of Papa New Guinea came to meet with us. He seriously is sooo amazing. He is not a member of our church but he is Christian. He talked about how his country is founded on christian beliefs. I think what I learned most of the experience is just how there are inspired people out of the church too who have the light of Christ burning in them. I wish he was our ambassador. He was so humble and teachable. He loved to talk to us and learn from us. It was such a great experience. We had a big conference with all the missionaries in the city (maybe 50 of us or so) and then we had lunch with him afterwards. It was so cool. I love my mission. We get the coolest opportunities. We have the UN in our area. SOOO COOL!
So mom I think I told you a while back but our family ward has this super cool relief society thing that they do that I am totally goin to do in whatever wards I am in in the future. The sisters get together about once a month and there is a theme and then its either desserts or appetizers. They all make what they think is best for the theme then get together and eat and one of the ladies puts all of the recipes on a website. I am pretty sure that it is www.tastymorselsnyc.blogspot.com. Or something like that. But you should look on there. Yesterday the theme was cheese and this lady made a baked brie that was to die for!
Yesterday we had multi-zone conference and Sis Smith stood up and told us to all stand up and that she was going to play 20 questions and who ever was left standing won a dinner with her and president. Then she proceeded to ask questions to check our obedience. For example Did you plan for 30 minutes, did you only have a one hour lunch break, did you call your ward mission leader last night and so on... so mother I just want you to know ... I WON! :D By a landslide! hahaha! You always remind me to be obedient so I just wanted to make sure you know... I am!! haha. President stood up and laughed after and was like ... "somehow I am not surprised it was her". I love being obedient. It makes me happy and brings miracles! haha
So we have had a successful two days so far this week. We got two cute new investigators who have been really humbled by their environment and situations. It is so amazing to share with them the healing power of the Atonement and that it is available for all no matter how far gone they think they are. I love being a missionary! I love sharing the gospel WOOT WOOT ! I just got a letter from a friend saying that she is thinking about a mission! So cool! It's been so amazing to be a on a mission and hear about all my friends who have decided to also serve missions! What a pleasure it is. It seems like it is happening more and more now! I'm so glad I chose to even when it was not the easiest thing to and when people told me I wasn't the kinda of girl who goes on a mission... or whatever! HAHAH!
Well I love you all soooooo much! Don't forget about me out here freezing!
haha love you to the moon and back

SOOO COOL!

Warmth.... what's that?
Hey HEY!
It has been an interesting week. It feels like we just had a pday. CRAZY! I am so glad the holidays are over and people can stop giving excuses about them. LOL!
We had a pretty chill new years also. It blows my mind that 2009 is over. I think this year will be stuck in my brain forever because it has flown by. Anyways we did get to come home early and we ordered pizza for the last time since I am now on a more strict diet. WOOT! O it was so delish! I'm so going to miss real NY pizza. There is nothing like it! Then I used Jason's recipe and made mango sticky rice... holy macaroni it was sooooo delish!!! We seriously scarfed it down. Thanks Jase and Britt! I will totally be making it again soon because its so few ingredients and we actually have almost all of them already! Also because I told my roomie about how much I love to go dancing on new years we decided to have a dance party... it was harder to do than I thought because we don't have any dance music. We tried to find an efy song that was pumpin enough but it didn't work... soooo we decided to use our key board and drop our own beats. hahaha. it was a blast. Just imagine 4 sister missionaries dancing around the apartment to someone pluckin out some beats on an electric keyboard... it was momentous! haha!
Things have been kinda dry with investigators. It's been a rough month. Finally our single's ward is starting to come back! yay! We had to drop one of our family ward investigators. O its always sooo hard because you love them so much and know how much the gospel will bless them but they choose to not do the things that will make them happiest! ugg... but one cool thing we finally got ahold of another investigator again. I hope that she can be strong enough to do what's right so that God can more fully bless her as I know He is anxious to do.
I have been working hard this week to refine my focus. Its been a weird month with the holidays and all my buddies going home and I have found myself not being as focused as I want to be. Not that I am not working hard but more that my heart is not as in it as I want and need it to be. So I have been studying and praying a lot about how to be focused and I have just learned about the power of continual repentance. Its such a blessing to know that God doesn't expect us to be perfect all at once and that we can always be better as we rely on the Atonement. I hope that I can always rise to the challenge and do what God wants me to do and if I don't make it the first time I know I can the next time!
So today we are going to go ice skating at Rockefeller Center as a zone! Pretty cool! I just hope I can afford it! It has been SOOOOOOO cold. I think that is part of the reason I have not been super focused because all I can think about is how cold I am. hahaha. Its sad but true. I stop people and try to talk to them and they will just say "no way... too cold". It's wonderful... not. haha. My eyeballs feel like they are freezing. Its really only like 20-25 degrees right now but when that wind comes up off the water around us... o man its bone chilling! I don't even know how to describe it. I am tempted to ask you to send me some of kyle's Russian hats. Everyone wears them here so I guess I could do it too! haha
Well I sure love you guys I hope all is well! I pray for you and each of your challenges! Thanks for your love and support!
love you guys to the moon and back.

Hello once again!
I feel like I have also been super close to you guys this week. So many appropriate times to think about how much I love and appreciate you guys. Thank you sooo much for my Christmas and birthday gifts. I'm wearing my new purple nail polish right now! :D Christmas day it was so nice to talk to you guys. That was def the best part of my day. Christmas morning we all woke up and opened our gifts and then while the other girls were opening their crazy amount of gifts, I made breakfast for them. Totally made sausage rolls. Then we spent the day with other missionaries and then we went to see Gene before we had to go in for the night. It was really nice to not get too caught up in the gimme gimmes. Then as most of you know two days later was my birthday. It is one that I know I will never forget. So it was a sunday and so we had church that day. I decided to save my gifts from you until I got home that night so I could have something to look forward to. I made my coconut cake in the morning so we could have it when we got home too (o it was so yummy too)! It was an interesting experience. I really felt like that was the greatest opportunity I have had thus far to forget myself and go to work. No one at church knew it was my birthday. Pretty much only the girls I lived with knew and I didn't tell anyone because I didn't want them to feel bad or something and so I got the great opportunity to just not think about myself on a day that that is typically all you do. Lol! That day we went to see a less active lady who we don't see too often. She was in need because of some hard things that have been going on in her life. So for about an hour I sat with this lady. I really felt so happy. I know its weird but what a wonderful gift my Heavenly Father gave me to serve. I am doing a terrible job at explaining how I felt but the whole day I just felt sooo grateful to be serving a mission. Im so grateful that God has trusted me enough to do such a thing. We came home and the sisters gave me a tshirt they made with what they thought a manatee looked like haha. I told them about my manatee shirt and how much I love manatees. It was really cute. Mom can you please send me a picture of a manatee this week... so they can see what it really looks like. hahaha.
So last week the zone leaders had a radio station WNYC shadowing them and they came with Sis Tai and I to an appointment with a recent convert and recorded us. He said he put me singing on the story... ahhh so I am singing on new york radio!! woot go me! I donno if you can get access to it but i guess you can try. I don't know when it will be finished but keep your eyes open. haha It was pretty cool.
Anyways sorry this is a jumbled email. There is so much going on at the church today. haha.
Well I love you all so much! TO THE MOON AND BACK!
